Try this deliciously fluffy and healthy banana bread cookies recipe! One ripe banana, naturally sweet applesauce and heart-healthy dark chocolate chips are mixed together to create low calorie cookies in under an hour. We make banana bread cookies healthy by blending whole wheat with white flour and adding our favorite banana bread spices. Bake cookie batter for just 10 minutes to produce a tray of rich and healthy chocolate banana cookies!

How to Make Banana Bread Cookies

  1. Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

  2. Step 2

    In a large bowl, combine the mashed banana, applesauce, brown sugar, egg yolk and vanilla extract and mix until just combined.

  3. Step 3

    Sift together the flours, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt into a separate large bowl. In small batches, add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.

  4. Step 4

    Lightly spray the parchment paper with nonstick cooking spray. Spoon the dough onto the prepared baking sheet by rounded tablespoonfuls, spacing each mound of dough 2-inches apart. Bake for 10 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are set and the cookies have risen. Allow to cool completely before enjoying.
