Heart Healthy Chocolate Sorbet Recipe

               
Enjoy a creamy chocolate sorbet that is surprisingly healthy. Sea salt, sugar, and high-quality cocoa powder come together in this easy, ice cream maker recipe.

Ingredients
Recipe yields 8 servings
4 oz fine-quality dark chocolate
2 cups water
1 tsp sea salt
1 1/4 cups sugar
4 3/4 Tbsp Dutch process cocoa powder, sifted

Step 1

Ice cream maker required.

Step 2

Chop chocolate finely and place in a bowl. Combine water, sea salt and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. In small doses, whisk cocoa powder into simmering liquid to obtain a smooth syrup. Pour hot liquid over chopped chocolate and allow to melt, whisking to incorporate. Strain into a clean container; cover with plastic wrap and chill thoroughly in the refrigerator.

Step 3

The mixture may thicken slightly. Whisk mixture smooth and then freeze in an ice cream machine according to manufacturer’s instructions. Transfer sorbet to a clean airtight container and freeze at least two hours in the coldest part of your freezer before serving.
