Healthy Kids Hamburgers Recipe

               
Serve these heart-healthy mushroom and beef burgers for a deliciously hearty cookout bite. Crisp Romaine lettuce and sliced tomatoes top garlicky, grilled hamburger patties that the whole family will love.

Ingredients
Recipe yields 6 servings
1 carrot, grated
1 zucchini, grated
1 1/4 lbs 95% lean ground beef
1/4 cup minced yellow onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 egg whites
1 Tbsp no salt steak seasoning
6 whole wheat light burger buns
6 (1 oz) slices American cheese (optional)
6 leaves Romaine lettuce (optional)
1 tomato, sliced (optional)
1/2 small red onion, sliced (optional)

Directions
Step 1

Place the carrot and zucchini in a dish towel and squeeze as much liquid as possible.

Step 2

Preheat a grill.

Step 3

In a bowl, combine the carrot and zucchini with the remaining ingredients. Form 6 hamburger patties. Grill for approximately 4 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness. Top with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and red onion, if desired. Serve on buns.
