These beef tacos are made with lean ground beef keeping them lower in fat and calories. They are cooked in a savory tomato based, beefy sauce with spices and onion, adding amazing flavor without added salt or fat. Recipe yields 10 servings
Lightly coat a large nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Heat skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Sauté ground beef for about 5 minutes, or until browned, stirring to crumble meat. With a slotted spoon remove beef from pan and set aside. Drain fat from pan. Add onion and sauté until softened.
Return beef to pan and add water, salt, pepper, tomato sauce, chili powder and cumin. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, or until thickened.
Warm taco shells according to package directions. Fill tacos evenly with beef mixture and top with cheese, lettuce and tomatoes
