When you’re looking for a green health drink that has a lot of flavor, you’ll want to try this easy-to-make recipe. All you need to do is combine the green juice ingredients in a juicer, and in minutes, you’ll have a breakfast or snack that’s loaded with nutrients and fresh taste. This healthy green drink is heart-healthy, low sodium, low sugar, fat free, gluten free and low calorie so it’s an all-around healthy way to start your day.
Fruit and vegetable juices are a naturally healthy quick breakfast, but some people get overwhelmed because they’re not sure how to make green juice. There’s not much to it. Simply combine fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs, such as spinach, parsley, cucumber, carrots, apples, lemon and ginger, and add them to a juicer. If you don’t have a juicer, a good blender can also make green juice, although it’s best to use juicier fruits when using a blender. If you don’t use a juicer to make green juice, you may need to strain the ingredients with a fine-mesh strainer before drinking.
The beauty of making your own juice is that you can adjust the taste of the juice based on your personal preferences by increasing or decreasing the amount of specific ingredients. It’s a good idea to start with a healthy juice recipe, like this green juice or our vibrant Carrot Orange Juice, and then adjust the ingredients to your liking. Some people like the stronger taste of ginger while others prefer to add more brightness by upping the lemon or citrus. It’s all up to you how you make healthy juice that is lip-smackingly good.
People enjoy green juice and other naturally made juices for several reasons, but most like the health benefits they offer. When it comes to heart health, many fruits and vegetables that go into green juice and other healthy juice recipes are winners. Leafy greens add loads of fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Other fruits and vegetables, from bananas and oranges to cucumbers and carrots, also add heart-healthy nutrients. Heart healthy juice drinks are usually low in sodium, but watch the sugar content of any juice you buy at stores and restaurants because there may be added sugar and other ingredients in them that are not so healthy.
If you don’t have a juicer or prefer your drink with a bit more substance, why not try a Shamrock Smoothie or Green Smoothie? They’re also loaded with nutrients thanks to the addition of spinach or kale, as well as flavorful fruits. Don’t get these confused with the seasonal shakes offered at fast food restaurants, however, which mostly include sugar and food coloring and not much in the way of fresh healthy ingredients.
